G679 Bamboo & Basketweave Majolica Pitcher

- This is a great piece of majolica this pitcher is done in the bamboo and basketweave pattern. The condition of this piece is very pristine. There is a very small tight 1/4" hair line crack on this pitcher that is very hard to see on the outside, you have to see the crack on the inside because the crack is so tight. The crack is located and runs approximately one inch along side the spout. The pitcher measures 7 3/4" high, with a 3 1/2" diameter opening at the top, and is 5 1/2" diameter at the widest. This is a nice piece of Banks & Thorley majolica, from Hanley, England with a circa of 1850 to 1880. Note the nice signature on the bottom of the pitcher. This same pitcher is featured in 'The Collector's Encyclopedia of Majolica', on page 56. What a great addition to any collection this piece would make. - $695.   Holiday Special $500.
