M010 Late 19th Century Cast Iron Drinking Fountain - This is a wonderful late 19th Century Drinking Fountain. Note the Lion head where the man could drink, then the trough for the horse to get it's drink and then at the ground level a place for the dog. This fountain is made of cast iron and was originally from Callaway, Nebraska where it was in use for the public access. Callaway, Nebraska is located in the Central part of the Nebraska right south at the beginning of the Nebraska Sand hills. Then a man named Carl Kugler purchased it from the city of Callaway for display on his Log Cabin Ranch in Custer County just north of Lexington Nebraska. Note the close up photo that shows the foundry mark on the base. The marking reads, 'THE J. (K?) MOTT IRON WKS. N.Y.'. The only letter that I an not certain on is the K could be different. This piece measures 63" Height, the base plate measures 19" x 19" and is 7/8" thick, the horse trough measures 29" x 19". What an outstanding piece of old cast iron. I also have an article showing this same drinking fountain photographed during it's usage at the Kugler Ranch in a newspaper write up. - $inquire$ Click here to view more Cast Iron Garden Figural and Decorative Iron Work
