(click on pictures to enlarge then click on back button to return) C161C Original Antique Showcase from Country Store in Hopkins, MinnesotaThis is a display case made by L. Paulle, Minneapolis, MN. The letter I had inside the spool cabinet was from a gentleman telling his cousin he had purchased a mercantile store in Hopkins,MN for $500. Inside this store was this oak display cabinet. The letter was dated 6-6-1904, so I am assuming the cabinet is at least that old and perhaps older. The base measurers 39.5" wide, 64.5" long and 38" tall. It has glass on 3 sides with 2 sliding solid doors. The dome top is 42" wide, 67.5" long and 17.5" tall and sits on the base. There are 3 hinges that hold the curved glass opening on each side of the dome. In other words both sides of the dome open. There are 2 handles along with key locks on each side of the dome opening. One of the dome openings has a metal divider in the glass, which I think means the glass on that side was replaced with 2 equal sized glass pieces. Near the curved edges of the dome opening the wood trim is missing on each corner. None of this effects the functionality of the openings. It is a rare find to find the base and curved top. Would proudly display any collection. I could see wildlife, dolls or perhaps a toy collection. It was shown at the Oronoco, MN Gold Rush in 2008 and delighted many. $6500. Price Reduced to $6000.
