F021B Cherry Newel Post and Spiral Railings
This is an outstanding cherry spiral staircase with matching newel post. There is 41 railings that we have with this set. This newel post and railing came from Greenup, Illinois. Greenup is a well known town because this town was the home of Abraham Lincoln. This spiral staircase railing and newel post were removed from the home, because the home was being destroyed. We have a photograph of this newel post and railings displayed in it's original home before it was removed. This newel has some nice Eastlake carvings and nice details to it. This post measures 59" high and at the widest it is 10" wide and 10" deep. There are 41 railings total, there is 26 rails that measure 30 1/2" high, 6 measure 30" high, and nine of them are 28" high.
It is difficult to give the measurements on the spiral hand railings, there is three spiral pieces, and they measure 97", 61", and 127", these measurements are approximate measurements with the spiral turnings.
I have recently added some additional photos and am adding a little more
description to the construction. Starting at the top of the staircase you have a
straight rail of about 4 1/2' then the link curves about 90 degrees into another
4 1/2' straight rail. With a total of 17 spindles evenly spaced then there is
another curve where the rail starts down the steps with a staight downward 4'
link supported by 8 spindles then there is another 4' link with a slight curve
or twist supported by 6 spindles, then another 5 ' curved rail supported
by 6 spindles that joins into the newel post. I hope this description with
studing the additional photos will help. - $1575.
