F575B  Cast Iron & Wood Child's School Desk

This is an all original old cast iron base and wooden seat and desk surface child school desk. This particular style of desk was one in which a child's seat which folds up and down was used on the front of the desk to sit a child up to a desk in front of them which held their supplies and was their writing surface. So this desk would have to have another desk with same seat to be able to be used as a desk, or a small child's chair to sit up to the desk portion. This style of an early school desk works nicely as a decorating piece of furniture in one's home to sit a plant on, to decorate with vintage teddy bears and or antique dolls. The cast iron portion of this desk is marked and it reads, 'Buffalo Hardware Co.' - New Paragon Patented 1881, Feb. 17, Aug. 2, Sep 5'. This desk would have been bolted to the floor to secure the desk, this particular desk measures approximately 18" wide is 24 1/2" high, with seat down measures 26" deep with the seat up is 12" deep. This is an all original antique school desk that would make an excellent addition to any fine antique collection. - SOLD
