G086B  Pickle Castor Enameled Cranberry 

This is a lovely cranberry insert pickle castor that has an enameled floral design featured on the center of the insert. Good original condition, only one enamel imperfection on the flower petal, this imperfection could have happened when the insert was originally made, or the bubble in the enamel released over time. The quadruple silver plated holder is marked by it's maker, 'Rogers Smith & Co. - and is numbered '223', 'U.S.A.'. The silver plated lid and the holder are both engraved with the initials 'B.G.'. The lid fits smoothly and snug over the glass insert, making no question that this is the original lid for this insert and holder. This Victorian pickle castor set is all complete with the pickle tongs. The holder has been resilvered over the years and notice that there has been a smoothing of what I assume was a dent on one side of the base of the silver plated holder. This holder stands 10 1/2" high, the base has a diameter of 3 1/2", at the widest point the holder is 5" wide. This pickle castor was bought from the famous Drew's Antiques in Omaha at one time. - $875.
