G087B Matching Pair of Lamps - Van Briggle
pottery birds
This is a matching companion pair of Van Briggle pottery table lamps. Notice on the bases the almost full figure bird perched on the tree trunk base of a tree and how the two lamps have the birds facing in at each other, making the lamps the companion pair that they are. The lamps and shades were made by the Van Briggle Pottery company, and the 'AA' like Van Briggle molded signature is on one of the lamp bases on the topside of the lamp around the base. This signature would date the lamps to the early 1900's. (1901 through 1949 time period). These lamps came from a one time owner in the Sioux City, Iowa area. The shades of the lamps are original to the lamps and still in very good original condition. When lit the shades cast a soft red or pink color. One of the lamps needs to have a new plug put on it, the original plug has a crack in it and I would not want to have this lamp used with the electric plug that it currently has. This plug can easily be replaced. Felt pads protect the bottoms of these lamps. The shades measure 8" x 6" around the bottom of the shades and the tops are 4' x 3 1/4" in the opening space. The height of the lamps is 13 1/2" high to the top of the shades. The diameter of the lamps bases is 3 1/2".
