G127B 3 Gallon Red Wing Ball Lock Stoneware Jar
This is an excellent example of an all original three gallon marked, 'Red Wing - Union Stoneware Co. - Red Wing, Minn.' ball lock jar. This jar is all complete and in excellent all original condition with the wooden and wire bail handle and the wire locking mechanism on the top and the crock lid. This jar stands 15" high and on the bottom has a diameter of 10", the top opening is approximately 4 1/2" diameter. Notice that the Red wing is the larger size. This same jar is displayed in the book titled, 'Redwing Stoneware - An identification & Value Guide - by DePasquale & Peterson', on page 117. We have heard these referred to as being applesauce jars or pickle jars, but again in the reference guide they are called Ball Lock Jars, this could be the reason so many different names have been given to these jars as they were for canning purposes. This piece would make an excellent addition to any fine Red Wing collection. - SOLD
