G165B Hummingbird Holder Enameled Brides Basket
This is an exceptional Victorian art glass brides basket. This silverplated holder for the basket is marked, 'Meriden B. Company Quadruple Plate 1630'. Notice the full figured and very detailed hummingbird figure that is featured posing on a branch with a flower design above the bird. Beautiful twisted rope design through out this silverplated footed holder that extends up for a single side handle. The glass basket is of the same high quality as the holder with floral and fruit enameled designs on both the outside and inside of this art glass bowl. Beautiful color combinations of pinks, purples, and green all highlighted in gold accents. Nice ground pontil on bottom of the bowl and beautiful and attractive ruffled edge. Notice the white cased interior of this bowl and the cranberry fade away to pink coloring of the outside of the bowl that makes for a lovely and attractive piece. Excellent all original condition, there is some wear to the gold highlights on the bowl is the only imperfection that I see to note. The bowl measures 10 1/2" diameter at the widest point, the inside of the bowl has a diameter of 6 1/2". Also, note the shape of this bowl and the crimped or pinched mold that it was made with, very appealing. The height of just the bowl is 4 1/4" high. The holder stands an impressive 15" high to the top of the handle and at the base is 9 3/4" diameter however the hummingbird extends out from the base approximately another 2". This is an exquisite piece of Victorian art glass, and you will not want to miss adding this piece to your own personal Victorian bride's basket collection.
