M137C Gibson's Cough Lozenge Advertising Tin
Colorful and fully decorated advertising tin that advertises, 'Gibson's Linseed Liquorice and Chlorodyne Cough Lozenge - E.C. Rich New York - Sole United States Agent.' On the top of the lid there is information that reads, 'Manufactured by Robert Gibson & Sons Ltd., Manchester, England'. The tin measures 9 1/4" high by 5 1/2" x 6". These lozenges state that 'an ounce of these lozenges contains 18 minims of chloroform and 2 minims of ether, guaranteed under the Food and Drugs act of June 30, 1906, Serial No. 554. This tin would date right around this early 1900's time period. If you collect early drug or country store advertising tins then this is one that you will not want to miss adding to your own collection. Only one side of tin has noticeable scratch mark, otherwise normal patina for a tin dating to the early 1900's.
