M166B Cast Iron and Tin Turtle Spittoon - 1891
This is an all original cast iron base figural spittoon done in a full body turtle shape. What a cute piece of iron! The cast iron turtle's head when stepped on will trigger and raise the turtle's tin copper colored back exposing the inside which contains the tin spittoon cup and notice that this cup has an attached handle that rests in a fitted slot for secure storing when the turtle's top is closed. This cup is removable for ease in dumping. A special feature of this particular turtle spittoon is that it is signed with raised embossed letters and it reads, 'Golden & Jacobson's - Pat'd Nov. 10, 1891- Chicago'. This turtle spittoon was acquired at a household sale in the Casper, Wyoming area. This all original and complete cast iron and tin turtle measures 14" long from tip of the tail to the nose of the turtle and at the widest point is 10 3/4" wide.
