M421A Salesman Sample Brass Windmill - Samson
This is a great Salesman Sample Windmill it is made of Brass and is operative. The wheel will turn as the fan is opened up all the gear movements go into action showing the way the windmill would work. The tail of the windmill is stamped Samson on one side and STOVER Freeport Ill. USA. There has been some old repair to the tail over the years. The cast brass casing of the gears says Samson on one side and Stover Mfg. Co. Freeport Ill. USA on the other. The windmill stands 37" Height not counting the 3/4" board that it is screwed down to. The diameter of the Windmill wheel is 23 1/2" Diameter. This salesman sample windmill was purchased from the Lucille Jones Trust of Phillipsburg, Kansas. Jake and Lucille Jones owned and operated the Phillipsburg Sale Barn and many years ago Jones Store Co. and later Jones Western Store Co. I am not positive whether they sold windmills years ago or if this was a piece they acquired over the years. If you are fascinated with the old American Windmills there are some other interesting reading on the internet one story can be found at
