M497B Cast Iron Umbrella or Cane Rack
This is an all original old cast iron umbrella holder that is designed in the shape of a boats anchor with a lion resting across the base of the anchor. What an interesting combination of nautical and a lion, the king of the beasts. I do not know why this combination. Notice that the drip pan is supported by four lion's paws. In raised numbers on the backside of the lion there is the number '17', and on the underneath side of the drip pan there is the information, 'HS - N17' - and the number '28'. There is also a serpent type design with the letters, H & S on either side of the design, I am certain that this must be the emblem of the maker of this piece of iron, however I do not know the name at this point, if anyone can inform me more, please drop me an email. The drip pan is 13" x 6" and is enameled covered with a light blue covering. The umbrella stand measures 25" high and is 9 3/4" deep and 16 1/2" wide. What a great way to display vintage umbrellas and or antique canes. You will not want to miss adding this fine piece to your own personal antique collections. - $450.
