MC001  Diamond Dye Advertising Self Framed Sign

What an exceptional find! This is a signed, 'Bessie Pease Gutmann' creation that depicts an advertising scene for Diamond Dyes. Notice the little girl dying her cloth with her dollies watching intently in the background. Four of the dolls are all dressed and ready to go, and then there is one last doll that needs to be clothed. Notice all the signatures on this sign. In the lower left hand corner the sign reads, 'Bessie Pease Gutmann' then moving across the sign to the right there is a diamond signature for 'Diamond Dyes - are the Best', 'Copyright 1911, Wells & Richardson Company', This scene is titled, 'A Busy Day in Dollville'. In the very lower right hand corner it reads, 'The American Art Works, Coshocton, Ohio'. This self framed advertising sign measures 17 x 11 1/4". Notice the details in the artwork and the style so well known to being a piece of artwork done by 'Bessie Pease Gutmann'. The condition is all original and all complete there is some signs of wear, slight bend in the tin frame, signs that the sign was exposed to moisture at sometime on the paper backing, but for being dated 1911, and still all original we would classify the condition as exceptional, and we are thrilled to have found this piece. Another very exciting fact concerning this sign is all the information on the backside of the sign. The information reads; 'A Busy Day in Dollville' - We take much pride in presenting to the public this winsome study of child life. The original painting is from the brush of Bessie Pease Gutmann who has achieved an international reputation as a painter of children. Such studies of hers as 'The Five Senses', 'My Darling', 'I Love to be Loved by a Baby', have found their way and much favor in England, France, Germany and other European countries. No art store in American is complete without one or more of her inimitable peeps into the life of the child. Mrs. Gutmann is herself the mother of two most charming little ones, who, in her home in one of the New York suburbs, doubtless give her some of the inspiration and mother love present in such marked degree in all her work. Her paintings have never been used for advertising and we are doubly fortunate in being able to secure, 'A Busy Day in Dollville', with its peculiar adaptability to the exploitation of Diamond Dyes.
The painting has been most skillfully reproduced by the lithographic experts of the American Art Works in their unique plant at Coshocton, Ohio. It was printed on specially prepared steel by them, by means of the off-set process which is attracting so much attention among the most progressive of the present day high grade printers and lithographers.
Duplicates of this Art Work at $1.00 Each - We will be pleased to furnish additional copies of 'A Busy Day in Dollville' at the low price of $1.00 each. Transportation charges in every case to be paid by the purchaser. One dollar barely covers the cost of each copy of 'A Busy Day in Dollville'. We have no commercial motive in making this offer, but merely wish to give our friends who may so desire the unusual opportunity to secure a copy of this celebrated work at a nominal price. - Wells & Richardson Co. - Burlington, Vermont'.
