P027B Engraved Hunting Trip Print with Fancy Frame
Exceptional details and life like images jump out at you when you gaze at this engraved picture. Of equal beauty is the wooden frame with matting and gold engravings in the four corners of the frame. This scene is titled, 'The Chief's Return from Deer Stalking'. Also in the lower left hand corner the print reads, 'Painted by Sir Edwin Landseer, R.A.' and in the center of the print it is dated, 'London, Published 1st September 1859 by E. Gambart & Co. 25 Berners, Street, Oxford Street Originally published by Sir F.G. Moon, Bart Sept. 1, 1847'. And the last information marked on this engraving is in the lower right hand corner that reads, 'Engraved by J.T. Willmore, A.R.A.'
The original backing is still on this engraving and on the backside is also a red label from the company that framed this fine piece of artwork. The label reads, 'H.L. Davis Company - Dealers in pictures and picture frames and artist's materials - 36 Main St., Tauton, Mass.'. This large 40 1/2" x 20" framed engraving is beautiful and what an intriguing statement it would make hanging in an office or home. Quality and beauty are two words that describe this print and what an excellent addition to your art collection it would make.
