P056C The Barefoot Boy Poem and Print
This print can't help but make you smile! The print depicts a young boy walking down a dirt road with his fishing pole over his shoulder, and a basket in his other arm. The poem below the picture reads, 'The Barefoot Boy - Blessings on thee little man, Barefoot boy with cheek of tan! With thy turned up pantaloons, and they merry whistled tunes: With thy red lip, redder still Kissed by strawberries on the hill: With the sunshine on thy face, Through thy torn brim's jaunty grace: From my heart I give thee joy, I was once a barefoot boy! By Whittier'. Also in the lower right hand corner is the signature 'Elizabeth , N.J.'. The frame measures 19 3/4" x 10 1/2". The matting around this print and poem has an arts and crafts appearance, and can't you just see this print hanging in a young boy's room, or maybe even in a grown man's office to remember days gone by.
