Q687 Blue and White Embroidered Baby Quilt 

- This is a cute baby quilt that has both embroidery work and appliquéd. There is Nursery Rhymes depicted on the quilt. 'Toy Soldier', 'Little Boy Blue', 'Mary Had A Little Lamb', and 'Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary How Does Your Garden Grow' are the four different nursery rhymes on this 65" x 85" quilt. The quilting is done in a diamond pattern and the stitches are approximately nine stitches per one inch. The condition of the quilt is outstanding. On the front side you don't see any flaws, on the backside there is just two areas where the white fabric has browned over the years and what caused this I am unsure. The largest spot is only a little over 1 1/2" in diameter. Again this brown spot does not show at all on the front side. I do not like washing old quilts so I have done nothing myself to try to remove the spot and perhaps with a washing these spots would easily come out. Again the spots are only on the backside of the quilt and on the white fabric. This quilt would just be adorable in a little child's nursery, or a small child's play room as a wall hanging, or thrown over the edge of a rocking chair. What a wonderful quilt that is done very well and the stitching and embroidery work is very even. 
We acquired this baby quilt at a local auction here in South Central, Nebraska. The quilt belonged to and was made for a boy by the name of Bobbie Bonde. We were told at the auction that this particular quilt was Bobbie's baby quilt. Looking at the fine condition I would guess that this quilt was one that was stored away and not used everyday by Bobby when he was a baby.
