These were common pieces around the turn of the century and would be filled with notes and autographs from family and friends at a memorable time in one's life, perhaps a graduation, retirement, or again any memorable time. The outside of this book is covered in velvet and a brass ormolu frame encircles a celluloid picture of a country scene. There is a cottage or small house resting beside a small lake with row boats and a bridge that crosses the lake. This little book measures 6 1/4' x 4 1/2". The words inside the book reveal that this book was for someone named Archie, who appeared to have lived in Unity, Oregon and some of the dates are 1905 through 1907. The notes are written by cousins, family members and friends. Good all original condition. This book came from a lady at Lake Sara Illinois, who's great grandmother owned these items. She was from the Medford, Oregon area. - $275. |
