W070B Small Leather Trunk or Suitcase
There is a story to be told through this suitcase. On the one end of this suitcase there is the following personalized information; 'J.W. Cassidy - El Aksa Commandery No. 55 - Quincy, Ill.'. Illinois. It appears that this small suitcase was used to store a special uniform and or outfit for J.W. Cassidy'. The connection and purpose for this suitcase must be through the 'El Aksa Commandery'. Notice on the interior of this suitcase the special divided sections that secured a special uniform or outfit. If you know of the definite purpose of this divided suitcase please let us know. This small trunk like suitcase has the wooden protective support slats on the bottom, and is covered with a leather like material. On the interior there is an original manufacture label that reads, 'E.A. Armstrong Mfg. Co. - Society Uniforms and Supplies - Military and Band Goods - 300 302 304 Wabash avenue - Chicago'. This same information is impressed in the leather on the side of the suitcase. 'E.A. Armstrong Mfg. Co. - The Armstrong Uniforms Chicago'. The suitcase will still lock secure with the two clip latches, there is no longer a key with this trunk. The trunk measures 20" x 11 1/2" and is 11' high.
