W259B Chalk Bust of Salome Biblical Character

This bust is of the biblical character Salome who is referred to in historical text as the stepdaughter of Herod Antipas unnamed in the gospels of Matthew and Mark but the person who ask for John the Baptist head. This character has long been a subject of artist and in this bust she appears to be of African decent as she is portrayed with darker skin. The figure is in all original condition with some minor paint flaking as you can see in the pictures. The statue measures 16” high by 10” from shoulder to shoulder by 6 ½” from front to back. - Price $95.
