W383C Personalized Antique Oak Traveling Stationery Kit
This is a unique and personalized traveling oak stationery case which was given as a wedding gift and it has a plaque on the top that reads, 'Presented to L.W. Woodman - on the occasion of his marriage - Sept. 17th 1901 - by the Directors & Solicitors of the Dover Electricity Supply Company Ltd.'. The case measures 16 1/2" x 9" and stands 11 1/2" high. The lid lifts up and underneath the lid there is a leather inset which holds scissors, paper opener, and pens. There is one slot open. Then the box will unfold in the front to drop down a writing desk and storage compartments. There is rulers, and a slide ruler along with manual, small brush, matches, old dollar made to represent a boutonniere, extra oval point pen tips, and ink well, magnifying lens, stationery paper and cards, early black and white touched with gold accents photo which on the back has a name and the town, Johnstown, PA. This is a very compact and detailed kit. Notice that there is even a calendar inside the case. There is an old Louisiana & Kansas Lottery ticket which is dated Feb. 20, 1894, along with an old shareholders stock certificate for the Swedesboro Rail Road Company. This stock certificate is dated August 10, 1869 and has the United States Internal Revenue stamp affixed to the certificate. This is a unique and complete old stationery letter writing kit that we are thrilled to be able to offer for sale. A unique piece of American history as well. When the writing surface is in the down position the area measures 16" wide and is 18" long.
