This is a unique and unusual antique toleware painted water cooler that is marked by its maker, ‘Adam Heinz Filter & Cooler – Patent Jan. 20, 1874’. Notice the detailed graphic artwork that decorates both sections and the lid of this cooler. A beautiful portrait of a woman is featured on the bottom section. The top section on the inside is divided into two sections, with each section being about 5 1/2″ high, and the bottom filtering section of this top piece is filled with a weighted substance which is enclosed.
The bottom sectional is where the spigot is attached and this section is porcelain lined. What an amazing drinking water system dating to 1874!
All together this cooler measures 27 1/2″ high, the base has a diameter of 12″ and the spigot comes out 3 1/2″ from the cooler. Notice the heavy cast iron handles on the water cooler! This piece was made with quality all the way around! This is an amazing early water cooler that we are thrilled to be able to offer for sale. On the underside of the top lid there is a very small piece of a partial label.
