“Lion and Two Monkeys” cast iron mechanical bank was manufactured in 1883 by the Kyser and Rex Company in Frankford, Pennsylvania. PAT JULY 17 83 on underside. It operates as follows:
Place a nickel on the right hand of the bottom monkey on the tray provided.
Press down on the lever behind at the base of the tree. The baby monkey pops up to watch as the bottom monkey drops her arm, and the penny slides into the waiting lion’s mouth which opens simultaneously. The bank measures 9″ length, 3 1/2″ wide and 9 1/2″ height. (there is a trap but the key and lock are not working.)
