Exceptional all original find! This toy cook stove is the ‘Rival’ stove, and notice the name on the front of the stove in raised letters, along with the scrolling details in the cast iron. J.& E. Stevens of America made this stove and this stove is nickel plated over cast iron, and the nickel is still in very good original condition. On the backside of the stove there is a patent date of, ‘July 30, 1895′. To the top of the stove pipe this stove measures 17 1/4″ high, 18″ wide and is 7 1/2″ deep. This same type of stove is featured in the antique reference book, Kovel’s Antiques & Collectibles Price List 2004 – 36th Edition’, on page 833.
Notice the accessory pieces that are with this stove, there is five pieces, one skillet, one tea kettle, one footed frying pan, one footed cooking kettle, and one coal bucket. These pieces measure approximately 2″ high on the taller ones, and the skillets are about 2 1/2″ in diameter. Notice that on some of the accessory pieces they are grooved around the outer edge to allow the item to fit securely on the burner and receded downward to hold the item secure. It is always a treasure to be able to find these toy stoves, and then to be able to have one in such exceptional all original condition.
