Antique Cast Iron Toy P & H Excavating Steam Shovel, this is a great toy! This Construction toy is in very good condition crank works and operates steam shovel bucket and crank in rear operates direction of the shovel. Inside frame is written “Vindex Toys, Belvedere, Illinois”. Measures 17″ x 6″ x 9″. ( a very rare toy for us to have found)
Pawling & Harnischfeger Co were a company from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Alonzo Pawling and Henry Harnischfeger came from humble beginnings in Milwaukee. They met while both were employed at the Whitehill Sewing Company of Milwaukee. Several years later, sensing Milwaukee’s growing need for a dependable machine and pattern shop, the two combined their resources. With a simple handshake, they formed the Pawling & Harnischfeger Co. (P&H) in 1884.
