This mission arts and crafts table is the Model No. 440, with circular top above and a stacked and trumpeted cross-stretcher base with a central faceted peg, supported by double thru-tenon construction. Table is in original finish, the top is worn. This table is signed with the early 1902 -03 red decal. Gustav Stickley used this one-inch to 2.5-inches high red decal markings which contains a joiner’s compass (an early woodworker’s tool) and the motto “Als ik kan,” which is Flemish for ‘As I can.’ Beneath it is only his last name encased in a red box. This shop mark was introduced in 1902 and was used throughout that year and 1903. Dimensions for this table are 30” diameter and 28” height. Purchased from an estate in Cambridge, Nebraska.
