This is an exceptional early appliqued quilt that features a fern type pattern done with bright and colorful red and green colors with a gold center and vine coloring also on this pattern. The quilting and stitching on this quilt are remarkable measuring about 11 stitches per inch. Note that the quilting design that also has a fern design as well. This quilt measures 85″ by 86″ and will make an excellent display on one’s bed. We acquired this quilt from Russell, Kansas.
We were given some history on this Princess Feather quilt that was pinned to the quilt. Which gave us the name Lura E Hamilton born March 10,1868 Died 1955 – She married William A Heusner on 10 May 1894, in Union, Ohio. Lura Hamilton Heusner is where this quilt was originally from. The note also said it was This quilt hung from 1957 to 1977 in the Ohio Historical Museum.
