Antique Cast Iron Concrete Monitor Battleship Windmill Weight – These weights were used as counter balance weights on the 12 foot Monitor Vane less style M mill. This weight was to be a representation of the Civil War ironclad, ‘The Monitor’. This weight uses both cast iron and concrete. On the iron that extends out on the side of the battleship there is an impression of a letter, it is a light impression, it appears to be the letter, ‘M’. This weight measures 28 1/4″ long, 12 1/4″ wide, and 7 1/4″ high. Weighs between 65 and 70 pounds. The concrete has good form to it. There is minor loss of cement. Again, a great windmill weight that is guaranteed old. Don’t miss out on adding this weight to your collection!
This weight was found in Loup County near Taylor, Nebraska. A young lady named Mandy Micheel found this on there ranch. –
