Antique Enamel on Copper Portrait of De Boileau – Artist D. Faure -Limoges

This is a remarkable work of art done as an enamel on copper and is a portrait work of ‘Portrait de Boileau’. The artwork is signed and identifies this portrait with a brass plaque on the lower frame. The plaque continues to read, ‘d Ap. Rigaud – Musee de Versailles’. Notice also in the lower right-hand corner the portrait work is signed, ‘C. Faure – Limoges’. There is also identification on the backside of this piece that has the original gallery card. We were told that the artist, Camille Faure, was best known for being an enamel artist. Known for the design work at the Limoges porcelain Company – Born 11-16-1874 and died 10-7-1956. The detailed artwork in this piece is exceptional and one must truly study this piece to begin to fully appreciate the detailed work. The frame measures 18 1/2″ wide by 22″ high.
