What a unique and creative idea for saving storage space is this wooden shipping crate or box that is stamped and identified by its maker and it is, ‘Hubbard’s Wire Sewed Folding Box – Pat’d June 28, 1898, June 16, 1931 and patents pending – Made only by Puffer-Hubbard Mfg. Co., Minneapolis, Minn, U.S.A. – Box Made in USA 4-’37’. With a wood slat design and metal and wire connecting mechanism this box when folded measures 30 1/2″ long and is 15″ high but only 1 1/2″ thick. When the box is opened to its open position it then measures 14″ x 17″ and the sides are 12″ high. One can’t help but be impressed by the craftsmanship and ingenuity that went it to the design of this folding storage box! What a great find and a great example of American ingenuity!
