This Mission Oak Rocking Chair and Gentlemans Arem Chair were made by Limbert. Charles P. Limbert (1854-1923) was one of the most successful furniture leaders in the history of Grand Rapids and the Arts and Crafts movement in America. The furniture that bears his name is often the most extraordinary examples of Arts and Crafts furniture ever made, and to this day is highly sought after and seriously collected. “Charles P. Limbert Furniture Co.” started in Grand Rapids in 1902. Limbert’s provided several major custom orders of furniture for the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. The hotel is still filled with Limbert Rockers, Arm-Chairs and Settles.

 

This is a rare Limbert Set – Mission Quarter sawn Oak Rocking Chair and Gentlemans Chair this is a very heavy set in good condition. The cushions have been replaced. Both chairs are marked on the underside of the arms with the logo Limbert’s Art and Crafts Furniture Made in Grand Rapids and Holland.  The rocker measures 36″ height, seat is 32″ x 30″. The arm chair number 877 is 41″ height and 24″  x 31″. Circa 1910.
