Antique English Oak Pipe and Tobacco Smoking Storage Cabinet – With History

Product #W080D

Antique smoking cabinet from England and notice the attached silver plaque on the interior of this cabinet that informs that this cabinet was presented to William A. Strang on February 22, 1929 by the Provan Ward Council in appreciation for his years of civic service. Note the British dating with the day, month and year in that order: 22-2-29 at the bottom of the plaque.
We have been told that Provan is a ward on the east side of Glasgow, Scotland, and the area now forms a constituency in the Scottish Parliament. The name comes from Provan Hall, a 15th century country house still standing in Auchinlea Park in East Glasgow.
The uniqueness of the craftsmanship on this cabinet is very special and will quickly catch your eyes with the two oval fronts on this cabinet. The beveled ovals are 7 1/2″ x 5″ wide and the cabinet its self is 16 1/2″ wide by 12″ high and 8 1/2″ deep. The cabinet has a hinged top and three interior storage drawers.
