Antique Mary Gregory Blue Cake Plate with Handle

This is a beautiful Victorian Mary Gregory Blue Cake plate. The gorgeous detailed enameled silhouette is of young children playing and one appears to have a paper spy glass held up to their eye. Note that the children are surrounded by grass and foliage in an outdoor setting. The square shaped silver-plated footed holder has a beautiful handle designed with two full figured birds and is marked on the underside ‘Middleton Plate Co. – Hard White Metal – Quadruple Plate – 1822’. This piece measures 10″ by 10 3/4″ and the height to the top of the handle is 12 1/2″ high. Circa 1890. This is an exceptional piece of Mary Gregory done in the blue color.
