This stick and ball wicker photographers or portrait chair with asymmetrical scrolled right arm and fiddleheads, woven skirt, and woven beaded front legs supported on brass caps makes a wonderful piece of art that is a chair. This chair is in very good original condition. There is an original paper label on the underside reads: Jenkins = Phipps Co. Manufacturers of Reed, Rattan, Willow and Rush Furniture. Wakefield, Masss. Measures 31″ height, 17″ depth and 24″ width.
The other rattan company in Wakefield, the A. D. Jenkin’s and Company, evolved into the Jenkins-Phipps Company after Jenkins partnered with a salesman named Irvin E. Phipps, who left the Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company circa 1903.
