Antique Celluloid Collar Box w/ Collars & Cuffs – 1899

This is a great find, this celluloid collar box is complete with collars, cuffs, and what is especially fun is that it has been personalized at one time over the years when it was evidentially given as a gift. The box reads, ‘From Uncle Dau to Charley – March 5, 1899 – Age 9 years’. What a great piece of history to personalize this collar box, perhaps this is why it has been kept in such outstanding condition for all these years. Inside the box there is two sets of cuffs (one 2 5/8″ wide and the other 3 1/4″) and five collars, 14 1/2″ (Silver Brand and Trojan). The celluloid collar box is highly decorated with an impressed geometrical design on the base and the lid has flowers that correspond with the floral bouquet on the top lid. The box measures 4 3/4″ high and has a diameter of 6″. The bottom is also stamped, ‘Patented Oct. 11th, ’92 – Dec. 27th ’92, Sept. 19th ’93’. What an exceptional piece to find dating back to 1899! If you collect vintage clothing, celluloid items, or if you would know of anyone in your family named, ‘Charley’ that would have been nine in 1899. What a treasure to get this piece back to it’s family line! This is a great piece! Excellent all original condition. –
