This is a unique Mary Gregory cake plate with a round shape and a detailed teal blue insert that features a young girl dressed in her party dress and hat while standing outside beside a fence and watching as a bird flies above. This cake plate measures 9 1/4″ diameter and to the top of the handle is 9 3/4″ high. Notice the raised feet on this cake plate that each has engraved facial detailed design. This holder is marked by its maker, ‘Taunton Silver Plate Co.’ this was an American manufacturing company active in Taunton, Massachusetts. Taunton Silver Plate Company was in business from 1853 to 1859 and then again for a short time of 1872 until 1874 when they auctioned off their showroom and all stock. This is a beautiful and unique shaped Mary Gregory cake plate that will be sure to be a highlight in your Mary Gregory collection and this is the first piece that we have owned with a Taunton Silver Plate Company frame.
