This is an all original old advertising and storage tin for Niles and Moser hand made cigars. The cigars were manufactured to retail at not more than five cents each. The lid even has part of the original paper label or stamp that it was sealed with. In the lower portion of the can it is dated and it reads, ‘Copyrighted 1908 Niles & Moser Cigar Co.’ The can was made by the ‘Cadillac Can Co.’ The cigar tin measures 6″ high and is 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. Also, notice that on this cigar tin there is a symbol that states, ‘NRA Member’ and then there is an eagle emblem behind the this symbol. This stands for the “National Recovery Administration” which was an administrative bureau enacted in 1933 by Franklin D. Roosevelt to promote industrial growth and stem the rampant unemployment problem remaining from the Great Depression. It only lasted for a few years, but the presence of the NRA Eagle (usually the “NRA Blue Eagle”) on this tin and other signs and products should yield some collectible value.
