Product #G935
Facebook

All original crock stoneware batter jug, this is an early stoneware piece that was used daily and dates to the 1890’s. This jug still has the wooden bail and wire handle. Measurements are 9 1/2″ high, the base is 6 1/2″ diameter and the top opening is 4″ diameter, and the pouring spout is 1 3/4″ diameter. This jug has on the bottom of it an old label and it reads, ‘Swets Jug (Penn Dutch) – Filled with mix of oatmeal, barley flour, rum, sweetening, and hang on horses’ hame for field workers to drink. This label on the bottom is worn but this is what I read. It would be fun to know the history of where all this antique crock batter jug has been! Came from a collection in Missouri.
