This is a low blue pottery bowl which was made by Marblehead Potteries. Marblehead has a unique history as In 1904 a doctor established a pottery program as therapy treatment for women with nervous disorders in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The pottery program later hired a professional with the hiring of Arthur Baggs in 1905. This later led to the beginning of the now known, Marblehead Pottery in 1908.
This bowl measures 6 1/2″ diameter at the widest point and is just 2 1/2″ high. The bowl has a matted glaze on the exterior and shiny glaze on the interior. Marked on the bottom with impressed marks of the squared rigged ship flanked by the M and P, which is the Marblehead signature. Excellent all original condition.
