Outstanding Carved Antique Victorian Walnut Bookcase in good original finish. There is a rich patina in the color of this cabinet. Note the wonderful floral and leaf design carved in the crest and the fine carving on the doors and the unique carved keyhole covers. This carved floral and geometrical motif designs represent the characteristics of the art-carved movement in Cincinnati. The drawers have the neatest carved handles that I have seen on a Victorian bookcase. Has adjustable shelves. On the inside of the dovetailed drawer there is a furniture stamp that reads: J. Dornette and Company Manufacturer’s Cincinnati, Ohio. Measures 50″ wide, 14″ depth and 84 1/2″ height. Circa 1875. (Cabinet has a nice collection of Majolica on display that can be viewed by clicking on link.)
