Antique Victorian Walnut single door Bookcase – 30″ wide

Antique Victorian Walnut Bookcase. This is a single door fancy walnut bookcase with bottom drawer and a fancy backboard across the top back. The burl faced drawer is held together with a Knapp joint. The Knapp is a very strong form of drawer joinery but was only utilized from 1870 until about 1900, when it basically fell completely out of use. It was replaced by machine cut dovetails, which are still mass produced in factories today. This bookcase measures 71″ high is 30″ wide and 13″ deep on the top portion and 17″ deep on the base. Circa 1880.
