Richie, Canon and Priest Died April 24th, 1909. Grateful Tribute of the Congregation of The Church of S. Augustine. We have acquired a photo and some history on Theophilus Richie.
John purchased this from Mark Holman a dealer in Quincy Illinois he had bought this podium in Chicago years ago. Measures 61″ height, width of wings of eagle are 21″ wide and the base is 19″ diameter.
This eagle podium has some interesting history regarding its prominence and where this type of lectern has been used before by past United States Presidents. We have included a copy of a photo… of this same style of eagle lectern being used by the Inaugural Committee as the historic DAR eagle lectern during four previous Presidential Inaugurations, the lectern was used during the Inaugural Luncheon held in Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol immediately following the Oath of Office ceremony.
