Americana tramp art covered box which has been made from old cigar boxes, and an old wooden ruler for the feet on the bottom. This box was made by Gary Ellis from The Amish community of Jamesport, Missouri. Mr. Ellis and his wife, Carol for years operated a wonderful antique shop specializing in high end primitive, early pine furniture and Americana smalls. Gary was a most creative man and he made these covered boxes made from out of old cigar boxes. He also made unique yard ornaments and Grotesque face jugs. Notice that on the bottom of this box there is a penciled face drawing and the initials G.E. along with date. This box measures 10 1/2″ x 7 1/2″, and stands to the top of the finial 5″ high. If you collect tramp art this piece made from old cigar boxes would be a highlight in your collection.
