This is a very unique and unusual cast iron item that we are offering for sale. This piece was used in the early 1900’s and this particular anvil was used by a dentist by the name of ‘Dr. Eller of Harvard, Nebraska’, in 1906. The solid cast iron ‘lid’ has embossed letters and information that reads, ‘B.D. M. Co. – Buffalo, N.Y.’ This lid has a diameter of 7″, and is 3″ high with a fitted groove to hold it securely over the galvanized cylinder. On the side of the cylinder chamber there is a manufacture label that reads, ‘Buffalo Dental Manufacturing Co. – Buffalo, N.Y.’ This cylinder measures 28 1/2″ high the base is flared and has a larger diameter of 9 1/2″, and again the very top is 7″ diameter. The exact purpose of how this apparatus was used in dentistry I can not inform you. Perhaps there is someone that can share this detailed information with me. This is a nice identified piece of dentistry hardware that again was used right here in Nebraska in 1906. –
