Antique cast iron mechanical bank that features the story of Jonah and the Whale. This bank was designed by Peter Adams on July 15, 1890, and manufactured by Shepard Hardware Company of Buffalo, New York. The action for this bank happens when you place a coin on Jonah’s bead and press the lever. The man then tosses Jonah forward as if to throw him overboard. The whale opens his mouth and the coin then slides off of Jonah’s head into the whales mouth. The weight of the coin causes the whale’s mouth to bounce up and down for a seconds. Measures 5 1/2″ height, 10 1/4″ length and 3 3/4″ depth.
