Porcelain Ocupational Shaving Mug – Carpenter Christmas 1911

This is a nice ocupational shaving mug Carpenter and on the back side XMAS 1911. Has the personalized name of T. F. Schoen Jr. Made and distributed by Koken Barber Supplies, St.Louis, U.S.A . and marked Germany. Measures 4″ Height and 3/4″ ” diameter of the top. In many barber shops, a shelf often held spots for the personalized mugs of the regulars. These mugs usually had the customer’s name, as well as a hand-painted illustration of the man’s occupation. A barber shop had bragging rights if it had the most shaving mugs of any shop in town, or if the mugs were of influential figures in the community. These mugs are coveted today.
