This is an early primitive tin lined foot warmer and comes with a metal insert and has a wire handle. Notice that there is even hearts pierced in the sides of this warmer. This box measures 9″ x 8″, and look at the corners that are dove tailed together. The door has a latch that you can move in a circular movement to open and close. This is one of the nicest primitive foot warmers that we have ever been able to offer for sale. In the reference book, ‘Primitives & Folk Art our handmade heritage’ by Catherine Thuro on page 47 there is a picture and short description of a tin and wood foot warmer that looks very similar to this same foot warmer that I have. The book notes that this type of foot warmer was both home and factory made.
