Victorian walnut lockside six full drawers chest with detailed gallery and four smaller drawers on top of the cabinet along with a detailed crown to complete with unique lockside chest. Beautiful burl throughout this chest along with stylish hardware on drawer fronts. The drawers was made with the Knapp Joint. (It was one of the first successful machine-made joints used mainly 1890 to 1900.) The main use for this joint was drawer construction replacing the hand-cut dovetail joint on better furniture.This piece measures 36 1/2″ wide by 20 1/2″ deep and stands 72″ high. Circa 1890.
