Antique pieced quilt done with triangles that depict a variation of ‘Birds in Flight’ pattern. Notice the early country fabric colors and designs that have been used in this quilt. This quilt is a local Dawson County, Nebraska quilt that was purchased here locally from the family. This quilt measures 63″ x 80″ and the quilting is 6 to 7 stitches per inch.
This quilt was made at the home of August Simmons where they quilted in the parlor. It was made before 1926. It was made by Elizabeth Simmons (mother), and her two daughters Estella Simmons Thompson and Edna Simmons Velte here in Dawson, County Nebraska. What a great piece of history, and we have attached an article that we found of this families history.
