Cast Iron Squirrel and Tree Stump Mechanical Bank, Mechanical Novelty Works, New Britain, Connecticut, Circa 1881, the bank activated by placing a coin on the acorn and pressing the lever at the squirrel’s foot, moving the squirrel forward and dropping the coin into the bank. This bank measures 7″ long by 4 1/2″ wide on the base and is 4 3/4″ high to the top of the squirrel.
